Dr. Marwan Salloum has been a Gynaecologist for over 25 years and for 14 of those as a Consultant Gynaecologist in Portsmouth. He practices a wide range of private medical and surgical gynaecology in a very professional, friendly and high quality setting that offers only the best to his patients. His experience and reputation is well confirmed by his patients. Dr. Salloum qualified from medical school in Dublin in 1987 and went through all his post graduate training in the United Kingdom. He was appointed a Consultant Gynaecologist in Portsmouth in 1999.

Dr. Salloum uses his considerable expertise and experience to deliver the best care a patient can ever have and always puts the patient in complete control of their care by explaining all available options to them. Time spent with a patient is never a constraint and always a priority. His patients are extremely loyal and very complimentary of him. He is a BUPA Premier Consultant and works with all major insurers. He sees patients from the Portsmouth and Hampshire area but also from further afield and from as far away as West Africa which is where he was born.

About Dr Salloum

Dr Salloum has been a Gynaecologist for over 25 years giving him a lot of experience in patient care. He attended the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in Dublin where he qualified as a doctor in 1987. After a year working as a house doctor in Ireland he moved to the United Kingdom where he trained as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. It started with junior doctor training in the Northeast and eventually trained in a rotation post in the South East working as specialist registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Bournemouth, Poole and Portsmouth where he was appointed Consultant Gynaecologist in December 1999.

Since his appointment he has practiced Gynaecology extensively offering care from adolescence to menopause and post menopause. He is experienced in the care and treatment of all benign gynaecological conditions such as urinary incontinence, fibroids, prolapse, menopause and post menopause problems, menstrual disorders, miscarriage and early pregnancy bleeding, and endometriosis.

He is competent and experienced in performing gynaecological procedures such as hysterectomy, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) prolapse and pelvic floor surgery, sterilisation reversal and ultrasound scanning.

As a Consultant Gynaecologist in Queen Alexandra hospital he is involved in various activities that help in formulating policy to enhance good quality care for patients in hospital. He has been Clinical Director and is presently Clinical Governance and Audit lead as well as the Chairman of the Consultant Body.
He practices privately at the Spire Portsmouth Hospital in Havant and at the Harbour Suite at the Queen Alexandra hospital in Portsmouth.

 

Dr. Salloum has always been interested in teaching and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in medical education awarded by Cardiff University. He is heavily involved in the teaching of Medical Students from Southampton University Medical School. He holds a Honorary Senior Lecturer post with the University.
He is well recognised in his field and has given talks at international conferences.
